Interview with model Heather Campo:
1. What is your background? How did you become interested in fitness?
I was always active growing up, doing ballet from the age of 3. Once “reality” hit at the age of 16 and I had to get a job… I didn’t have a lot of time for ballet anymore. My senior year I was on my High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad and had a lot of fun with that!! After graduation I joined World Gym… and LOVED it right away!
2. Can you please describe a “typical” day for you?
I work full-time as an Office Manager, so Mon-Fri I get up around 5:45 am, to work by 7:30 – off at 4:30 pm. I train Arms on Tuesday after work. Legs on Wednesday & Chest & Back on Saturday. Abs are 3-4 days a week. Walking my dog, jogging & use cardio machines are the various ways to keep up cardio. In bed by 9:00 pm – sharp!
3. How do you motivate yourself to get and stay so fit?
My husband! He’s into bodybuilding & keeps me motivated!!
4. What forms of exercise do you find to be the most effective?
LOTS of crunches & a big variety… leg-raises & a superset with side-to-side crunches are a great combo for me! Also, my fave for Legs is squats & then lunges down the hallway – feel the burn!!
5. What is your normal eating plan like? Do you have any type of “special” diet for getting leaner?
First, always remember genetics play a BIG role in your metabolism!! Being that I work in an office where most of my co-workers LOVE Wendy’s, McDonalds & junk so temptations are ALWAYS in my face – but just keeping in mind that every “treat” is one or two steps backward!!
Breakfast is a vanilla Pro-Blend shake; mid-morning snack usually consists of a low-fat pop tart, granola bar or yogurt.
Lunch is usually a turkey sandwich, salad (from Crispers!)
Dinner – anything that is low fat & no more than 400 ca lories… you don’t burn calories when sleeping! (that’s when recovery takes place!)
6. Do you use any supplements? If so, which do you recommend?
Yes. Pro-Blend Vanilla!! YUMMY!! I have 1-2 per day. I also take a multi-vitamin every day. As for nutrition, I just eat healthy & make sure I’m not eating too many carbs one day, then not enough the next…Keep it balanced! Staying healthy is “a science”
7. Are there any other products you recommend for getting fit and/or looking great?
My husband uses more supplements than I do. But his goal is to build lean muscle – where mine is to maintain a ‘fit’ figure. He uses Pro-Blend, Isopure, Glutamine, Multi-Vitamins, Fish Oil Pills, Vitamin C, and glucosamine for joint pain.
8. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Be positive – it keeps you & others around you HAPPY!! Make good decisions! Each decision will compound with the next…
